The Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council recently selected 39 proposals totaling $111.5 million to recommend to the 2016 Minnesota Legislature for funding. The projects range from $412,000 to Minnesota Audubon for floodplain forest enhancement to $13.8 million to the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources for the Reinvest in Minnesota wetlands program.Council members will meet Nov. 5 to review draft accomplishment plans with funding recommendation amounts and again Dec. 3 to adopt the final funding bill to forward to the Legislature.The council originally received 44 requests totaling more than $295 million. The Outdoor Heritage Fund is one of four funds created by the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, and receives one-third of the money raised by the tax increase.
