Communications and development director

Part time 20-30 hours per week 

Compensation: based on experience ($15-$20)

The Minnesota Conservation Federation (MnCF) is seeking a part time director of development and communications. This position will help our organization to grow our membership and fundraising base.  MnCF is excited about growing our impact in the years ahead. The preferred candidate for this position will be excited to work to build capacity and funding so that we can achieve our mission, goals, and core values. The development director will be an ambassador for the organization and help us to grow our impact.

Since 1936 MnCF has been the state affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation. The nexus of hunting, fishing, outdoor adventure and conservation is a space MnCF is proud to inhabit. Candidates with a history of participation in these activities or with an interest in enjoying them as part of their outdoor experiences will be given strong consideration. Candidates of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. This position can be done remotely and those living in areas outside the metro area are encouraged to apply.

Job description:

Primary responsibilities:

-Engage with social media to grow the visibility of MnCF and as a fundraising tool.

-Drafting a quarterly newsletter in addition to timely social media posts and emails to our membership.

-Develop, organize and maintain membership databases.

-Participate at in person events to showcase the organization and grow our reach.

-Present to potential affiliate organizations about our organization and opportunities to engage with us. 

-Website development as needed.

-Writing and submitting grant proposals.

-Engage in coalition work to further our conservation efforts.

Prefered qualifications/experience:

-Excellent relationship building and communication skills.

-Familiarity with conservation issues in Minnesota.

-Strong ability to harness social media tools.

-Ability to work independently and remotely.

-Outgoing and engaging personality. 

-An understanding of how hunting and fishing activities contribute to a conservation ethic that has fueled the success of the North American Model of Conservation.

Work Environment:

This position can be done remotely while collaborating with the Executive Director.

The organization does maintain an office in St. Paul and in office work is an option.
