The Minnesota DNR has released testing information related to the CWD tests administered over the 2021 whitetail season.
In the 604 zone which is currently designated a management zone for CWD a 1.5 year old buck that was harvested by a hunter has tested positive for CWD. The animal was shot about 8 miles from the location of the last CWD positive wild deer which was harvested in 2019.
This positive test was the second case of CWD found in the state in a wild deer living outside of the South East part of the state which is experiencing the most severe repercussions of this always fatal disease.
